FAQs
Yes, Cofrac is subject to a double level of control:
- by the interministerial delegate who exercises the functions of Government Commissioner to Cofrac within its Board of Directors and can oppose his decisions, particularly if they are deemed contrary to the general interest,
- during the peer audits carried out by EA/ILAC/IAF and intended to verify in particular the conformity of the operation of Cofrac with the ISO/IEC 17011 standard, and by the OECD within the framework of the GLP activity (Good Laboratory Practices).
Finally, internal audits are regularly carried out by personnel independent of the activity being audited.
Cofrac is a non-profit private law association under the 1901 law. Cofrac is officially recognized as a “national accreditation body” by the Public Authorities through a decree published in the JORF of December 26, 2008. This decree follows article 137 of law no. 2008-776 of August 4, 2008 of modernization of the economy which itself followed the European regulation of July 9, 2008 on accreditation and market surveillance.
