Cofrac lost his first General Director
Cofrac is thus orphaned, since it was Daniel Pierre who developed it in 1994 to enable France to have a national accreditation system in line with international standards.
As Director General of Cofrac from 1994 to 2013, he invested a great deal of effort in making Cofrac a leading accreditation body in Europe, recognised by its peers. He deeply believed in the importance of accreditation as an activity of general interest and has always worked to structure and promote this activity at national and international level.
Vice Chair of ILAC from 2001 to 2004, then Chair from 2005 to 2010, Daniel Pierre was also the first Chair of EA from 2000 to 2006. He was still Vice Chair at the end of 2013 when he retired.
Without him, Cofrac would not have become the accreditation body it is today.
Highly appreciated by his colleagues and foreign counterparts, Daniel leaves behind the image of a sincere, whole-hearted man with a deep humanity. And a state of mind to which Cofrac remains attached.
A big and final Thank you Daniel.
